Life is Complicated - Update

***********************************************************
Update

We are back at home. Power was not restored until 7:30am, so I am glad that we went to my parents' home. School was finally listed as closed at 6:30 this morning - about 25 minutes after I put in for a substitute. If only I had waited 30 more minutes - Oh, well! At least, I don't have to use a sick day.

Lily saw the doc and has another ear infection. This doc commented on her palate saying that it is slightly abnormal. She wants us to keep an eye on her for possible chronic fluid/infections with the possibility of tubes. Her first infection that we are aware of was Jan. 5th of this year. Our best guess is that she has stayed relatively healthy, because she hasn't been in a daycare resulting in less exposure to illness. We go back in about three weeks to check for fluid.

**********************************************************

Lily went to bed with a fever of 101F. Not that worrysome, but she can't go to daycare tomorrow. I guess we'll be going to the doctor in the am. I suspected an ear infection early this morning. She tugged on her ear and said her ear hurt, but she didn't have a fever YET. Right now we are on a 2 hour delay. I am PRAYING for a closing.

Well, if life wasn't complicated enough already . . . We lost power about 1 1/2 hours after Lily fell asleep. I would have taken the chance and stayed home, but with a sick one . . . I am signing off for the night at my mom's house.

And if youare in the L-burg area, don't think about breaking into the house. We have a GREAT neighborhood watch. They even came and checked on Lily and I as I was packing up to leave for the night. Pray with me for a CLOSING!

Daddy's House

We have finally established a way for Lily and I to webcam with Daddy. I won't go into why it took so long. It is a sore spot for me, but . . .

We were "talking" to daddy tonight. Lily said, "I go Daddy's house. I be right back." She got down from the chair, grabbed a key, walked to the front door, and put the key in the lock. I tried to explain to her that we couldn't go to "Daddy's house" because we were talking with him on the computer. She then came back. I thought the matter was settled.

A couple minues later she tried it again. This time, she grabbed my hand and tried to take me with her. She got to the door and said, "I go Daddy's house. I be right back. I WALK." For those of you who don't know, Daddy is an hour and 45 minutes away BY CAR!

Right to Live

I have such strong feelings on this issue. My sweet, precious daughter wouldn't be my sweet precious daughter if her birth mother had not chosen LIFE. I cannot imagine my life without her. As strong-willed and stubborn as she can be sometimes, she is still my baby. The one who said, "You want rub your back" when I told her I was tired the other night and immediately started rubbing my back.

Whether or not you voted for him . . .

Will you be my friend?

Tonight, I was trying to finish something up on the computer. Lily climbed up on the chair with me, snuggled up close, put her arm around me, and asked "Will you be my friend?"

Did You Know . . .

. . . that Peyton Manning and Hines Ward are caterpillars? Yesterday while watching the Steelers game, we were getting Lily to say Hines Ward. She had it down, so we asked her who he was and she pointed to a caterpillar in a coloring book. She did the same thing with Peyton Manning!

Ice Skating

Lily has been asking to go skating all week with Daddy, so we finally took her this afternoon after church. We went out to Burger King using some gift cards from Christmas and headed to the rink. Lily had a blast, so did mommy and daddy! We are all exhausted, but well worth the memories.

Lily was disappointed that she didn't get to see the Zamboni! Well, actually it is an Olympia. If you're Canadian or from the North you'll understand. Zamboni is actually a particular name brand of ice-resurfacing machine.

Yes, in the picture of the three of us, she is standing on her own with NO support from Mom or dad. She will probably be one of the few Americans that can skate by the time she is three! The video really doesn't do her justice as I took it at the beginning of our time. By the end, she was pretty much "walking" on the ice holding her own weight with only a little support from us.

Half Way there!

The semester ended for us before Christmas, but the first semester is actually a couple days shorter than the second, so we are officially more than half way. So far, no snow days. I would rather have tons or none at all. I really don't want the school year extended.

Lily is loving "her school." She is singing more songs now than ever. The last two nights she has insisted on holding books like a teacher would for a class (while either she reads to me or I read to her). Monday she didn't want to leave and today she gave her teacher a big hug on the way out. Also insisting on saying good-bye to her friends!

Lily musings :

On the way home from "school," Lily looked like she was about to get really upset - more sad than mad. She said, "I want my Daddy!" We have been reading a hockey alphabet book to her and she has been asking to go skating. I told her that she could go skating with Daddy when he got home this weekend. She mentions skating several times everyday!

This morning she was sitting on the potty and acted liked she answered the phone. She said, "Hello, Doctor. Mommy's sick. Good-bye, Doctor." She then proceeded to "close" the phone!

On the way home from the grocery store this evening, she said, "Wanna go Hi David." David is our next door neighbor.

Sorry, no pics. Hey, at least, you are getting a post!

Sledding

We had issues with the computer locking up while on the internet in Canada, so here is a post I started on Christmas Day!
We took Lily out for sledding again this year. B-ville have plenty of snow day before yesterday. It is beginning to melt now.

T*I*R*E*D

First of all, the camera has been found! Now on to the funny story prompting the post.

The other night we arrived home late and Lily was rubbing her eyes. I started to say, "Lily you are tired!" Then, I thought better of that idea. Mentioning her being tired oftens makes bedtime worse as she fights it more, so I decided to spell tired.

Me: "Lily, you are T*I*R*E*D!"

Lily: "No, I'm not tired!"

I guess my days of spelling are numbered now. . .

Christmas pics coming.

PS. We watched the Rose Bowl tonight with friends of ours, Tab and Jay. Their youngest is Lily's bestest bud (6 mths older). We stayed until the end of the game and Tab was putting the boys to bed. Micah looked at Lily and said, "Lay next to me." A few minutes later, I thought I heard him say "Let's get naked." It turned out he was really saying, "Let's get a blanket." Boy, that's blackmail material if I have ever heard any at all!
