1 Day Down, 179 To Go

Today was the first day students came to school. Thank you to all of you who were praying for me. I could tell. Keep it up. It was a busy and fast day, but no discipline problems to speak of. Lots of wiggles and chattering, but that is to be expected on the first day of Kindergarten. I do apologize for the sporadic posts. I am leaving home around 6:45 am and not returning home until around 5 or later. I spend a couple hours with Lily and then I have to hit the books to work on teaching stuff. Not much time for anything other than necessities. As much as I LOVE blogging. Sleep is much more important.

Steve leaves for JMU in 2 days!

Washing the Car

Steve washed both cars on Saturday. We let Lily swim while Daddy was working, so she was already in her suit. She only played in the pool for a little while before helping Daddy was much more important! I have a REALLY cute video of Lily helping Daddy, but alas I just don't have the time to upload it.

Fixing the car

Grandpa R helped us fix the car on Sunday afternoon. Lily INSISTED on helping.

My First Week

Well, I made it through my first week of work. All-in-all it went pretty smoothly. I am making progress on my room. We have meetings in the am on Monday, staff development all day Tuesday, free to work on our rooms on Wednesday, Open House from 1-7:30 pm on Thursday, and another work day for Friday. It helps that Steve is still around, so I am not taking Lily to the sitter's house.

Steve did take her Friday for a couple of hours. He actually came and helped me get paper up on my bulletin boards while she was occupied. When he dropped her off, Rhonda asked Lily if she wanted to wave bye-bye to Daddy from the window. He walked outside and she stood on the stool just waving and smiling a really big smile! I asked him how well it went later that afternoon. He said, "It went so well that she didn't want to leave."

Please continue to pray as we have yet to hit the hard part. I hate to even type it, but Steve does leave on the 20th for orientation. He comes home that weekend and returns for classes the 25th. Pray that I have what I need to be a good teacher and a good mommy. Selfishly, I want to pray for an easy class and an easy year, but I know God won't give me more than I can handle with his help!

Here are the verses that I am reading every day. I want them to sink in. God's word is THE source of life.

2 Timothy 1:7 - for a "sound mind"
Ephesians 5:15-16 - to make the most of my time (balancing teaching/family)
Phillipians 4:7-13 - (trusting, guarding my heart, contentment, strength)

Great Grandpa's Birthday cake - Lily blew out the candles for him

We took the laptop to Canada, so some of the pics from vacation never made it to the blog. The laptop isn't connected to the internet unless we unplug the desktop. This computer uploads so much faster. Anyway . . .

Hiding

Lily has really gotten into "hiding." We picked this up from my dear friend Tabitha. She plays it with her boys. Lily will do one of two things. She'll crawl under the covers of our bed (not her own) and yell (albeit muffled) "hiding!" The other thing she'll do is to randomly take a blanket and crawl under it while she is sitting right next to you.

Then for either one we pretend we can't find her, yank the cover/blanket back, and yell gotcha! We had a lot of fun this evening with this game. Lily had two pillows from the couch on the floor. Lily insisted that I join her on the pillows along with two stuffed Elmos. Now, let me tell you the pillows were hardly big enough for her!

Tab would use this game to finish something or do something quickly if she needed the boys out from under her feet. They would hide while she did what she needed to do and everyone had a good time. Now, Lily just needs to work on finding better hiding spots!
