Yes, My Middle Name is MACGYVER!

Ok, so I was just locked in Ga's  room for over 5 hours.  She woke up around 1 & crawled into our bed. I was so out of it that I couldn't figure out what she needed.

I suggested we go lay in her bed for a few minutes (really I just wanted her to fall asleep).  But she had other ideas in mind.  She decided to lock us in.  Mind you I came with no key,  no phone, and it's the middle of the night.

I tried going back to sleep, but Ga thought it was time to play.  I couldn't keep my eyes open, but I couldn't sleep either because Ga was having a good ol' time!Y

Tried to help her fall asleep, but I was so tired it was nearly.  Finally slept for a couple hours after she fell asleep.

The key to unlock her closet shore doesn't work, because it has a flat end with a hook on the other end. Then it dawned on me that I could try and bend the hook out.

So what does an escaped convict do at 6:30 on a Sunday morning?  ?  ?  TAKE A NAP!

Loriella Park

We spent a couple hours at a county park.  We spent most of our time at the playground and a short walk in the woods. I'm so glad my girls (and Stephen) enjoy the simple things like slides, swings, creeks, and walks in the woods!

Because THIS is How We Roll in the Woof House

I've been gone from this blog for several years, but thought what better way to start over than to be real.

S is with L at the gym.  Ga and I are hanging at home today.  Dishwasher unloaded and subsequently IMMEDIATELY reloaded and ready to run. How does that happen?

Sauce from yesterday's canning put away (we're up to 25 qts).  I need 39 total to make it to next tomato season without buying sauce.

Laundry hunt completed with a joyful 4 yr old.  She's happy while I sort at least. Just ignore the fact that she's "taking a nap" in the dirty laundry!

Season Pass to Kings Dominion - Day 1

Having to buy a Coke, because you left your coffee at home- $1.39.  Buying two bananas for 4 kiddos and myself- $1.  Having your 2 yr pee around her virtually dry diaper on your lap at Kings Dominion in the middle of your ride on the Ferris Wheel - a good laugh with a friend, Wishing you have brought your winter coat - bonding moment.  Watching your nearly 6 yr old laugh/have fun/develop her own friendship - PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm up because I couldn't resist drinking(@8pm) half of my coffee that I left at home this morning.  Thanks Wendy Levasseur for a fun day at KD today. Do my kids really care if I take the time to post this at 11pm?  Taking the time out of my sleep time? THey might tomorrow morning.  This is nearly long enough to be a blog post.  So maybe I should copy and paste it to my blog that I haven't posted to in a year?  http://threecountryfamily.blogspot.com/

Keys, Anyone?

If you know me at all. This story will be all too familiar. I could NOT find my keys this morning. Yesterday, Stephen moved the car into the garage for me. I asked Lily to get the keys out of the stroller (from our walk yesterday) and give them to him so he could move the car.

L maintains that she did that and "rode" in the front seat when Daddy moved the car. Daddy says that he used his keys to move the car. Over the course of several texts between Stephen and I, we both are still pretty sure of our "positions."

Finally, it is passed time to leave to take L to preK. I decided to to just use Stephen's key and take her and sort it out later. I am getting ready to buckle L in and she gets really excited . . .

"I member. There are right here. I put them here (pointing to the console) b/c Daddy had his key to move the car. Lily saves the day!!!!!!" I didn't have the heart to tell her that she's the one who created the mess in the first place :)

Moral of the story: We were BOTH right! How often does that happen?

Recent Lilyisms

See Lilyism #4

I haven't been as good about keeping track of these as I used to be. Here are a couple of late:

_______________________________________________
1. This one came 10 days after I left my cell phone on top of the car and pulled up away after stopping to buckle Lily in.

Me: (dropped cell phone on the ground at Wendy's- battery cover comes off)

L: Not again, Not AGAIN! (shaking her head)

_______________________________________________
2. Lily laying down for her nap/rest time

L: I AM NOT GOING TO BE QUIET! I DON'T WANT TO SLEEP! (5 sec pause) I AM NOT GOING TO BE QUIET!

Me: You don't have to sleep. Just rest and be quiet.

L: How am I supposed to do THAT?!?!

_______________________________________________
3. Clearly, she picked up the word and not the meaning . . .

L (to Gma R): Draw something. . . Something random. Not my name. Just letters.

Gma R: ok (writes something) Is that ok?

L: No, that's not random. You are random (laughing).

_______________________________________________
4. After finding Ga with marker on her forehead. . .

Me: Lily, what happened?

L: Ga drew on herself.

Me: Lily you aren't in trouble. I just want you to tell Mommy the truth. Look at my eyes.

L: Yeah, Yeah. I did it. I thought her head was a piece of paper.

3-4 days later . . .

Me: What happended?

L: (being honest?) I thought her head was a piece of paper again.

Me: Thinking her head was a piece of paper doesn't happen twice (let alone once). Short conversation and loss of markers for a time period then followed.
