Hot, Hot, Hot!

As of 20 minutes ago, the temperature here in Lynchburg was 98 F with a Heat Index of 103 F. Yikes. That's hot, but not too big of a deal. EXCEPT - The electric company chose today as the day to turn off the electric for the houses on our street for supposedly 3 hours. They are working on a new house that is going up across the street. They put up a new pole/transformer. I was walking with my friend Kyrie when they told Steve. He came to the mall to find me so I would know to make plans for Lily to take a nap, etc elsewhere. Tabitha offered her house. When I got back from the mall, Lily was really tired and the temp in the house had only gone up a degree to 78 F. I went ahead and put her down. Fortunately just before she woke up, the electric/AC came back on. The power was only off for about an hour and a half! The house only reached 79 F, so we didn't end up having to go anywhere. Someone might think 79 F is warm for inside, but it felt wonderful as it was nearly 20 degrees cooler than outside!

While Lily was napping, I took some temps around the house with a outdoor themometer.

Windowsill in the kitchen - 86 F
Porch in the sun - 114 F
Porch in the shade - 96 F

You definitely are restricted with out electricity. I forget how dependant we have become! I couldn't do laundry, run the dishwasher, or even take anything other than an ice cold shower.

Relieved the air is running again,

Jen
